How to use tech without losing your mind, AI tools for job seekers and YC’s latest startup bets.

🧠 How to Keep Brain Rot at Bay

In this blogpost the author addresses a pretty important problem — our dwindling attention spans and an inability to learn new things.

With technology today, while we learn almost any subject in just a few clicks, it’s quite ironic how easily we end up scrolling mindlessly for hours instead.

Social media has most certainly wrecked our attention spans. But what if there was a way to reclaim or at least fight against this tech induced brain rot?

Here are a few unconventional hacks discussed in the blog that I really liked:

  • Make a reading syllabus, with topics and books you actually want to read. If you are someone who craves organization and structure this can really help you.

  • Eat without watching anything (oh god, I’m never going to be able to do this)

  • Read an essay every morning. Longform, aeon, and longreads are a few places where you can find long form articles.

  • Movies over short form content. Interestingly going to the theaters has become sort of a deep focus activity for me.

Microsoft laid off 3% of its workforce, ~7,000 people. With increased AI and automation use, even top performers are facing uncertainty in today’s job market especially in the tech sector.

From Intern to CEO: Nike CEO’s 37 year incredible journey to the top

Most conventional advice suggests switching jobs every two to three years to maximize career prospects. However, here’s an exceptional example of someone who defied this advice and stayed in the same job for an impressive 37 years. Through his dedication and hard work, he rose through the ranks and eventually became the CEO of a globally recognized brand, Nike!

A reminder that not every path has to be flashy. Keep adding value. Keep learning. Someone’s always watching.

🚀 Thinking of building something?

Every few months, YC drops a “Request for Startups”. Areas they believe are ripe for innovation. If you’ve been itching to build (or waiting for a sign), this might be it.

A few interesting ones that caught my eye:

  • 🤖 AI-powered personal tutors

  • 🎨 Design led startups

  • 🛠 Tools for building robots

  • 🧠 AI research labs (yes, you can start one)

  • 📚 Rethinking the future of education
